Reverse Engineering
What is Reverse Engineering?
We usually think of engineers as people who build robots and other devices to make our lives easier. Engineers learn by doing reverse engineering – taking something apart and studying how it works so that they can come up with new ideas to improve on past ideas or ways to make the same item for less cost. In teams, students engaged in reverse engineering by taking apart old electronic devices and iHomes. As part of the reverse engineering process, students made a detailed drawing of what they think it will look like on the inside before disassembling the device, and then made a detailed drawing of what they actually found inside their device. Reverse engineering encourages creative and critical thinking, and challenges students on their problem solving skills as they continue to practice making observations, documenting their process, analyzing different components, and reporting their results! You will be surprised to see what we found! |

Part 1: Deconstructing
Students deconstruct and take apart old devices to see what is inside. Look what we have found!
Part 2: Reconstructing
Student take all the different parts of their devices and recreate their own motherboard masterpiece!
